Dance coaching
What is dance coaching?
Coaching through dance and movement: we speak to your body, not only your head.
Dance coaching is a form of coaching that combines dance and movement with coaching. These days we spend a lot of time in our heads; when something is going on, we tend to analyse it. In dance coaching we address the body instead. Our body knows things our brain sometimes forgets, and while dancing it shows what it knows.
Because I watch your dance without judgement, I can give cues and assignments that let the body show us even more of the truth. Sometimes we meet something that has been hidden for a long time. That can feel uncomfortable, but in dance coaching we focus on what we have within us to help us move forward.
The beauty of dance coaching is that the answers don't only land in words; they are also felt in the body. Your body recognises that feeling, so you carry it with you for longer. By putting the feeling of the dance into words and turning it into concrete actions, dance coaching contributes lastingly to your growth and awareness.
How do I work?
- 1
A short conversation
You come with a theme in your life: a question, a dilemma, a longing, or the feeling that something needs to change. We look together at what is going on. Often we arrive at a question, but we can also leave it open.
- 2
Onto the floor
You start moving from a feeling. With soft eyes and without judgement, I observe your dance.
- 3
Reflection and assignments
Through reflection we arrive at focused assignments and explore experiences more deeply. Sometimes I use other creative tools, such as drawing, cards or writing.
- 4
Tools to take home
We put words to what you experienced and translate it into concrete steps to meet the world.
No right or wrong
Everyone can dance and experience is absolutely not needed. It isn't about steps, but about dancing the way you want to and the way your body wants to move. What wants to move, and what doesn't?
That can feel exciting and intimate, and I understand that very well. That's why it matters to me that you feel safe and at ease. Do you have a physical limitation or injury? That is no barrier either: you only move in ways that feel good to you.
Something may be touched, like old pain or grief. I handle that vulnerability with care.
My wish for you is that you experience the freedom of dancing the way you always wanted to, and that you leave with concrete tools and the feeling that personal growth is possible.
